FREE to QMUL students using the code supplied. This four-session programme will provide participants with an introduction to Meisner Technique if they are new to it and a useful refresher if they have trained previously. Each participant will create a monologue, the crafting of which will introduce them to further components of the technique as they progress. Each session will include check-ins at the beginning and end of each session and practise of the core Meisner exercise - the repetition exercise. The skills being trained in each session will progress incrementally. Dates November 23rd 30th December 14th 21st Session times: 6.30pm-9.30pm Venue Film and Drama Studio (FADS) First Floor, Arts Two building Queen Mary University, Mile End, London Who the programme is for Anyone aged 18 or over from any background with any level of training, skill or experience who is interested in an approach to acting training that enables its practitioners to ‘live truthfully in given imaginary circumstances’. A bit of blurb... Rooted in the principles developed and pioneered by Sanford Meisner. This approach that enables deeper contact with yourself and those you work with by teaching you to listen and respond, truthfully and instinctively in the moment may give you a different understanding of what acting is . Be prepared to be surprised. During these introductory sessions, you will learn some of the technique’s foundation training exercises to develop skills in being able to be more fully present and to respond fluidly and intuitively in the moment in your performance practise. A bit about the teacher... Lawrence had his first professional job as an actor in 1975, aged 11, with the Lindsay Kemp Company, trained at Drama Centre, London in the 80's and trained in Meisner Technique in 2010 at The Actors' Temple. He has been teaching Meisner technique since 2012.
